Hello, and welcome to my blog!
My name is Rommel Faunillan. I am a critical care nurse by profession, a husband, father, entrepreneur, and blogger as a hobby.
I have been thinking of starting my own blog for quite some time, but I just didn’t have the courage to start one. I was doubtful, skeptical, and very anxious.
What else can I still offer to the world if everyone is already doing it? The topics that I will share, for sure, would already have been covered by someone else. This poses a significant challenge for me as I am not confident in my abilities to bring something new and unique to the table. Additionally, it poses an even bigger challenge when English isn’t my first language. Although I am comfortable with it, I wouldn’t say that I have a good command of the English language. It can be difficult for me to express my thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner. However, I am determined to overcome these challenges and make a meaningful contribution to the world, even if it may seem small or insignificant in comparison to others.
Through conversations with family, friends, and colleagues, I have discovered that financial literacy is not always a priority for many individuals, even if they are working hard. This is often the case for those who have active and stable jobs. This realization has sparked my passion to educate and empower others with financial knowledge, particularly those who are interested in improving their own financial literacy. I believe that knowledge is power and with proper financial understanding, one can make better financial decisions and reach their goals.
Moreover, I believe learning is a two-way process. By sharing what you learn and getting feedback through asking questions and comments, we are both educating ourselves.
Additionally, I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to serve my community and advocate for financial literacy among my family, friends, and colleagues. Personal finance, saving, and investing are areas that I am particularly passionate about. The knowledge and insights I share come from a combination of my personal experiences, both positive and negative, as well as dedicated research on these topics. It is important to note that while I am passionate and knowledgeable about these subjects, I am not a financial expert or professional. My background is in nursing, not business or accounting
Similarly, I am very fortunate to be in this profession. Together with my wife, we have worked and traveled to four continents. We started our nursing career in the Philippines, one of the most beautiful countries in Southeast Asia where we were born and raised. Then, we worked in Saudi Arabia in the Middle East for 5 years, where I met my beautiful wife. A few years later, we were on the move again and secured a job in England for 10 years. We had such an amazing and memorable experience traveling Europe. Once again, an opportunity arose and we moved to North America 12 years ago. Finally, we now call Canada our home and are very grateful to live in this welcoming and one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
One other thing, I truly find value in taking different perspectives throughout my life’s existence into account, which is why I would like to share what my journey was like and the impact it has had on my personal life!
In the last 10 years or so, there has been a community and generation of #FIRE enthusiasts that I consider myself to be a part of. However, I am more focused on the Financial Independence aspect of the idea, NOT the Retire Early. Most likely, I will probably continue working on tasks that I love most, whether it be caring for people, running a business, volunteering, or working in the community.
Lastly, It will be my greatest inspiration if readers will find value in the content of my blog. If you liked any article and want more content like this, please support this blog by sharing it.
