Hello, and welcome to my blog!

My name is Rommel Faunillan. I am a critical care nurse by profession, a husband, father, entrepreneur, and blogger as a hobby.

I have been thinking of starting my own blog for quite some time, but I just didn’t have the courage to start one. I was doubtful, skeptical, and very anxious.

What else that I can still offer if everyone is already doing it? The topics that I will share, for sure, would already have been covered. Also, it poses a big challenge when English isn’t my first language. Although I am comfortable with it but definitely I wouldn’t say, I have a good command of the English language.

However, talking to family, friends, and colleagues – many have been working hard but considered financial literacy – is not a priority as long as they still have active stable jobs. For this reason, this has led to my desire to share my knowledge with anyone who is interested in improving their financial literacy, just like myself.

I believe learning is a two way process. Sharing what you learn and getting feedback through asking questions and comments, in essence, we are both educating ourselves.

So, here I am – writing my very first post on my blog.

There are a few things that inspired me the most: serving the community and advocating financial literacy to my family, friends, and co-workers.

My passion lies in personal finance, saving, and investing. Whatever I am going to share is a combination of personal life experiences (good and bad) and my dedicated research on these topics.

To begin with, I am no expert in personal finance, nor a financial planner/adviser or have a degree in business and accounting. In fact, far from it, as I am a Registered Nurse by profession.

Similarly, I am very fortunate to be in this profession. Together with my wife, we have worked and traveled to four continents. We started our nursing career in the Philippines, our home in Southeast Asia, then worked in Saudi Arabia in the Middle East for 5 years where I met my beautiful wife. Few years later we were on the move again and secured a job in England for 10 years. We had such an amazing and memorable experience traveling Europe. Again, opportunity arose and we moved to North America 12 years ago. Finally, we now call Canada our home and very grateful to live in this welcoming and one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

One other thing, I truly find value in taking different perspectives throughout my life’s existence into account which is why I would like to share what my journey was like and the impact it has had on my personal life!

In the last 10 years or so, there is a community and generation of #FIRE enthusiasts which I consider myself to be a part of. However, I am more focused on the Financial Independence aspect of the idea NOT the Retire Early. Most likely, I will probably carry on working on tasks that I love most, whether, still be with caring for people, running a business, volunteering, or working in the community.

Lastly, It will be my greatest inspiration if readers will find value in the content of my blog. If you liked any article and want more content like this, please support this blog by sharing it.
